Jets Cut Three Leading Up To Opening Night

The Winnipeg Jets have released forward Janne Pesonen and have assigned defenseman Paul Postma and forward Jason Gregoire to the AHL's St. John's Ice Caps.

Postma posted great numbers in the pre-season, scoring five points (two goals, three assists) in four games, including the first goal on home ice in the pre-season. He is joined by Gregoire, who had one helper in three pre-season games with the Jets. The former UND Fighting Sioux will spend his first year in professional hockey with the Ice Caps, unless a call-up happens.

Pesonen, who was released by the Jets, recently played in the KHL and with the Pittsburgh Penguins in the NHL.

The cuts come one week before the puck drops on the Winnipeg Jets 2011-12 season.
