Predators Comeback To Beat Jets 3-2

Friday night, the city of Winnipeg had to choose between their first place Blue Bombers or their new Jets and their final pre-season game.

And Mark Scheifele made the decision easier for all Winnipeg sports fans.

Scheifele tied the game at 13:07 of the third period.

The Jets got out to a slow start in the first period as they were outshot 11-5 in the first frame, which included a Cal O'Reilly marker at 7:51 of the opening 20 minutes.

However, the second period saw the Jets ramp up their play, outshooting the Predators 16-3 in the second frame.

Captain Andrew Ladd was able to pounce on a rebound in front, which inadvertently came off Predators defenseman Jonathon Blum.

In the third, David Legwand would score at 7:28 into the third period on an exhausting power play to put the Predators up 2-1.

Then, Scheifele would score his fourth goal of the pre-season after walking out from the corner and wring a shot past Anders Lindback on the power play to tie the game 2-2.

After a great action packed overtime period which the Jets had two great chances to win the game, outshooting the Predators 37-22 during the game.

Cal O'Reilly would score the first goal of the shootout and it would be enough as all three Jets shooters - Blake Wheeler, Tim Stapleton, and Bryan Little would be stopped by Lindback.

The Jets finish the pre-season with a 3-3-1 record and now prepare for the season home opener October 9th against the Montreal Canadiens.
