Jets Sign Kyle Wellwood

Former Toronto Maple Leaf, Vancouver Canuck, and most recently San Jose Shark center Kyle Wellwood has reportedly signed with the Jets.

Wellwood split the 2010-11 season between Mytischi Atlant of the KHL and the Sharks in the NHL.

In Russia, he collected eight points (five goals, three assists) in 25 games while in San Jose, he collected 13 points (five goals, eight assists) in 35 games, including seven points in 18 playoff games.

In 373 career NHL regular season games, Wellwood has 173 points (68 goals, 105 assists) and only 30 penalty minutes. He also has 20 points in 40 career playoff games.

His career best game with the Maple Leafs in 2005-06, when he scored 45 points (11 goals, 34 assists) in 81 games.

Wellwood was a high scoring center in junior with the Belleville Bulls and Windsor Spitfires, scoring 344 points in 244 games in junior.

The contract is reportedly a one-year deal worth $700,000 according to both the Winnipeg Free Press and Winnipeg Sun.
