Jets All Out Top 25: #13 Alexander Burmistrov

Alexander Burmistrov, 19, Centre, 6'1, 180 lbs
Last Year's Rating: N/A This Year's Rating: #13 Difference: N/A

Someone in the Atlanta Thrahser brass must have been mightily impressed with a young Russian playing in Barrie in 2009-10. Because of a 65 point season (22 goals, 43 assists) with a plus 32 rating in 62 games in the OHL, including 16 points in 17 playoff games, Alexander Burmistrov became the eighth overall pick in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.

Despite his age and only one year of junior hockey under his belt, Burmistrov made the jump to the NHL right away in 2010-11 with the Thrashers.

He managed to play in 74 games in his rookie season, collecting 20 points (six goals, 14 asissts), with 27 penalty minutes, and a minus twelve rating.

Though Burmistrov was the youngest player on the team and will not turn 20 until October 21st, he possesses a skill set that would be the envy of any NHL GM if his maximum potential is reached.

As with the case with Zach Bogosian, Burmistrov may have been hampered in his rookie season by the situation of the Thrashers in Atlanta.

With a full house in front of him every night, Burmistrov may take his game to the next level. And hopefully there will be no sophomore jinx in 2011-12.
