Jets Go Development Route; Send Scheifele Down

At the end of it all, the Winnipeg Jets have decided to play it safe and send down their first round pick Mark Scheifele to his OHL team in Barrie.

Talking strictly development-wise, the move makes sense to the Jets who need not be in any rush to have the 18 year old playing in the NHL at this time. His ice time has decreased since he potted his first NHL goal on Wednesday in Toronto.

In last night's 5-3 win over Carolina, Scheifele was back playing under ten minutes of ice time.

Through his first seven NHL games, Scheifele has the lone goal, an even rating, with 20 shots on goal.

Not a stellar start for him was the writing on the wall.

Despite it being a letdown for Scheifele, it was the smart decision to make.

Common sense prevailed for the Jets organization with what to do with his professional development.

Scheifele will join a 6-4-0-1 Barrie Colts team that could use his offensive talents as the top three players have 20+ points and the rest of the players have five or less points.
